Orchids are plants that belong to the family Orchidaceae diverse and widespread group of flowering plants with blooms that are often colourful and fragrant.

Orchidaceae is one of the largest and most diverse families of flowering plants, with more than 28,000 accepted species spanning 763 genera Christenhusz and Byng, 2016Those species are absent only from polar and desert regions but are particularly abundant in the wet tropics worldwide .

More than 30,000 different species of orchids have been discovered on Earth from which more than 200,000 hybrids have been created. It is this exotic plant’s unusual ability to produce hybrids between species and between related genera – an ability unique in both the plant and animal kingdoms -- that inflames the passion of serious orchid growers.

There are between 100,000 and 126,000 species in 880 genera. They make up between 6 and 11% of all seed plants. Orchids can be found in almost every country in the world except for Antarctica.

Not just a glance — but a real, slow, present moment. The delicate petals. The vibrant colors. The way it stands tall, even when no one is watching. Each flower has its own rhythm, its own timing. Some bloom early with the first rays of spring, while others wait quietly until summer. Some fade fast, others stay strong through storms. Just like us.

I declare this world is so beautiful that I can hardly believe it exists. The sky, the mountains, the trees, the animals, the flowers give us a delight in and for themselves.
